The town of Sos del Rey Católico is located geographically in the northwest end of the province of Zaragoza, bordering on the neighboring community of Navarre. It forms part of the Aragonese region of the Five Villas next to Tauste, Ejea, Sádaba and Uncastillo. The etymology of the toponym "Sos" has given rise to diverse and varied hypotheses.
